Having no experience is no more an excuse when we are talking about finding a remote job. You might be asking yourself, what’s the way then?  What’s the secret to landing a remote job with no experience? My advice as a Virtual Assistant is to try to become one. It’s a wonderful journey and if you have what is needed, you can learn and practice until you become one.

To become a virtual assistant, you don’t need a degree or invest a lot of money. You just need time and some discipline to learn new this.

So, If you are fluent in English and Spanish and you are looking for a remote job, don’t feel discouraged by your lack of experience, follow these steps:

1) Build relevant skills.

What skills are ideal clients looking for in a virtual assistant? A can-do attitude, excellent verbal writing communication skills, good technical skills, critical thinking, and analytical skills.

What skills do you already possess that can help you offer value to clients? What skill gaps will you need to fill?  If you need to fill some gaps, start practicing, and improving the way you show these skills. You can become an expert in a field if you start practicing and being disciplined.

In these times there are hundreds of new ways of learning. Watch videos, and read blogs and articles about new digital tools you want to use. Moreover, virtual assistants work in a market that is always changing, and we need to be aware of new trends, That’s the reason why being innovative and doing research are skills that a virtual assistant must have.

To build virtual assistant skills, consider taking online courses you can complete at your own pace

GAIN SOME PERSONAL EXPERIENCE

To gain experience, consider finding an entry-level position in your skill area, remote or onsite, or completing short-term projects on a freelance basis, also, you can practice with your own things, and organize calendars and your email accounts. Start using your computer and develop new capabilities.

Reflect on your growing skills and experience to deepen your understanding of potential clients and their needs so that you can tailor your services accordingly. You need to show that you know what they are asking you for, and be an expert in your area, and you will never know if you don’t practice. There is no improvement, without practice, and practice requires movement and action.

Keep applying and finding ways to offer your services

Every process requires time, constancy, and patience. You now have the abilities that it is needed, you have the experience, and now you need to learn how to offer these skills and services to potential clients. And like every process, this takes time. It takes time because this is not something you can learn without living it, If you dont have real interviews and applications, there is no way to improve. The success here depends on your ability to show your experience, and that you achieve your potential client’s goals and needs. It depends on your communication and interpersonal skills…

I hope this post has shown you that you dont need experience, or professional background to land remote work. You just need to improve what you already have and develop new skills you dont possess. Patience and dedication are the clues for every project. And never forget you are your personal and more important project.
